Behavior and Attendance Expectations: Sequoia Summer School

Attendance Policy:
The content of these classes will be extremely rigorous as each session is equivalent to one semester of that course. Therefore, only one class can be taken per session and it is imperative that your student be logging in and completing work every day, beginning the first day of the session. If the student is unable to login for any reason, they should contact their teacher or the Summer School Principal immediately for assistance.

Important Note: Any student who has not logged in to Canvas by midnight on the first day of the session may be dropped to make room for students on the waitlist. If the student fails to access the course within 48 hours, they will be automatically dropped from the course.

Students must maintain progress within the course to remain enrolled. Appropriate online behaviour is expected of all students as per the student handbook, or they may be dropped.

Computer and Internet Access:
In order to better help us plan for summer school and ensure we are meeting the needs of the students to be successful in an online format, a survey has been emailed to your student’s seq.org address. If they have not already done so, please have them login and complete the survey as soon as possible. The survey can also be found at (Note: you will need your student’s seq.org address to login to the survey).

For students who have difficulties accessing reliable WIFI service, each campus will offer an on-campus study space,  Session 1 and Session 2. However, due to safety precautions and to ensure social distancing measures can be maintained, in order to access one of these spaces, students must pre-register by indicating their preferred location on the Summer School survey (link above). Any student not pre-registered will be denied admittance.

Note: Access to on-campus labs may change based on San Mateo County Health Orders/Guidance.

Please note the following:
  • As no transportation will be provided, your student does not have to select their home school. They may request to be assigned to whichever campus is closest/easiest to access.
  • The on-campus lab is for student wifi access to complete their online coursework only. The lab will be supervised but teachers will not be available for in-person assistance.
  • Students coming to the study space must bring their own computer (can be a school issued Chromebook) and charging devices: they must wear a mask, and they must follow strict social-distancing protocols. Students who do not follow these protocols will be asked to leave campus immediately and will be dropped from summer school.
  • Students participating in summer school do not need to return their technology (Chromebook, Hotspot) to the school until they finish their summer school class(es).

Food Services
Food Services will continue to operate at the Central Kitchen on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as well as at East Palo Alto Academy on Monday and Wednesday. Summer hours will be 11:00am - 1:00pm. If you’d like more information, including how to apply for free/reduced meals for your student, please contact Nora DeCaro, Food Services Director, at ndecaro@seq.org or 650-369-1411 x. 22591.

Schedule Changes
As a reminder, all SUHSD sites will remain closed all summer. With the exception of the on-campus lab, no other services or facilities will be open. Therefore, if your student needs to drop, change or register for  a class, please contact:
